Abstract
Background: Non-hemorrhagic stroke is a neurological dysfunction that occurs acutely due to obstruction of blood flow to the brain without bleeding, resulting in brain tissue damage that may be temporary or permanent. Non-pharmacological management of non-hemorrhagic stroke can include FAST (Familiar Auditory Sensory Training) therapy. Objective: To determine the overview of FAST (Familiar Auditory Sensory Training) therapy in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients in the ICU of Prembun Regional General Hospital Method: This case study applies FAST (Familiar Auditory Sensory Training) therapy in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients with a risk of ineffective cerebral perfusion and utilizes case instruments including a nursing care format, FAST (Familiar Auditory Sensory Training) SOP, and a GCS observation sheet in the ICU of Prembun Regional General Hospital. Results: The results of the implementation of FAST (Familiar Auditory Sensory Training) therapy in the patient showed that the respondent, who had a nursing problem of risk for ineffective cerebral perfusion, received both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, including FAST (Familiar Auditory Sensory Training) provided by the patient’s family for 15–20 minutes during family visits. Observations were conducted before and after the FAST (Familiar Auditory Sensory Training) therapy. After interventions over 3×24 hours, the results showed that the respondent experienced an improvement in GCS. Conclusion: The results of this study can be applied to patients with decreased levels of consciousness to improve their level of awareness.
