Abstract

Background: Cesarean section (CS) deliveries are increasing globally and in Indonesia. Post-CS pain, due to the incision wound, has negative impacts on both mother and baby, disrupting lactation and recovery. Pain management is crucial to prevent physical and psychological complications. Effleurage massage, an easy and safe non-pharmacological technique, has the potential to alleviate post-CS pain. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the nursing care of post-cesarean section patients with the main nursing diagnosis of acute pain in Edelweis Room, KRT Setjonegoro Hospital. Methods: This study used a descriptive method with a case study approach. The research subjects were 5 post-cesarean section patients with the main nursing diagnosis of pain. The instruments used included nursing care formats, a Nursing Kit, and the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for innovative effleurage massage intervention. Data analysis was performed descriptively and qualitatively. Data is presented in tables and narrative form. Results: Post-CS patients experienced pain on a scale of 5-6, which increased with movement and decreased with rest. The nursing diagnosis was acute pain related to the surgical procedure. The nursing care plan included pain observation, effleurage massage, education, and collaboration with analgesic administration. Implementation of effleurage massage reduced the pain scale from 5-6 to 2-3 within 3 days. Evaluation showed significant improvement in pain scale and mobilization, although the pain was not completely resolved. Effleurage massage effectively reduced pain in post-CS patients with acute pain. Conclusion: Effleurage massage effectively reduces the intensity of acute post-CS pain and improves mobilization. Recommendations: Effleurage massage can be integrated into post-CS nursing care. Further research with a larger sample size and a stronger design is recommended
