Abstract

Background: Hypertension occurs when systolic blood pressure rises above 140 mmHg and diastolic pressure rises above 90 mmHg. Factors that trigger hypertension include gender, age, obesity, and genetics. One of the symptoms experienced by individuals with hypertension is pain in the back of the head and dizziness. One non-pharmacological therapy is back massage and deep breathing relaxation to reduce blood pressure and the pain scale felt by hypertension patients. Objective: To describe the results of nursing care by applying back massage techniques and deep breathing relaxation in patients with hypertension. Method: This scientific paper uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. Data were obtained through assessment, interviews, and observation of three respondents suffering from hypertension. Results: After implementing back massage and deep breathing relaxation techniques for three consecutive days, the respondents experienced a decrease in both pain scale and blood pressure. Conclusion: Back massage and deep breathing relaxation techniques can reduce blood pressure.
