Abstract
Background: The prevalence of insulin-depending Diabetus Melitus (DM) occurrence in Central Java Province in 2012 was 0.06 lower than in 2011 (0.09%). There are 140 DM patients in the working area of Community Health Centre 2 of Gombong. DM may occur due to impaired insulin secretion, insulin work, or both. Pharmacological therapy includes giving insulin and or oral hyperglycemic drug, Whereas non-pharmacological therapy includes weight control, exercise or DM gymnastics and diet Objective: To apply diabetes mellitus gymnastics on family suffering from DM type 2 at Klopogodo – RT 05 RW 01, Gombong, Kebumen. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with case study. There are 2 respondents with DM type 2. The instruent is observation sheet for gymnastics DM and a tool for measuring blood sugar. Result: After applying DM gymnastics, the blood sugar level of the clients was decreasing. Intervention: The writer applied practising DM gymnastics Evaluation: The result of the evaluation indicates the diagnosis of ineffective health care of the family and health behavior tends to be at risk of resolving. The application of DM gymnastics on family suffering from DM type 2 is effective to lower blood sugar levels. Keyword: Blood sugar, family, diabetes mellitus gymnastics
