Abstract

Background: Undergoing treatment in ICU room may result in stress for the patients. In ICU room PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital of Gombong it was found out that during the observation ±85% of the fully conscious patients said to stress. Their response due to the stressor may be reduced by one of psycho-religious therapy using audio relaxation in the form of murotal Al-Qur’an technique. Objective: To determine the effect of audio relaxation therapy (murotal al-qur’an) on changing stress level of patients in ICU room PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital of Gombong. Methods: This research used quasi-experiment approach with pre-test and post-test one group design. The samples were 33 respondents taken by purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyzes using Wilcoxon test. Results: The result of the study showed that the patients before getting audio relaxation therapy experience damild stress level (33.3%). After giving audio relaxtation therapy most of the patients experienced normal stress level (51.5%). Wilcoxon statistical test result obtained that z-value=(-5,020) and p-value=(0,000<0,05) meaning that there was effect of audio relaxation therapy to change the level of stress of the patients. Conclusion: There was significant effect of audio relaxtation therapy (murotal Al Qur’an) on changing stress level of patients in ICU room PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital of Gombong. Recommendations: The hospital management and nurses should be able to socialize and carry out this therapy to solve the problem of the psychological stress of their patients during the treatment
