Abstract
Background: Febrile seizure is the most common neurologic abnormality in children, especially children under 5 years old. Febrile seizure can cause neurological disability, developmental disorder, epilepsy and death. Objektive: Describing the nursing care for hyperthermic seizure patient. Method: This scientific paper is a descriptive in the form of case study with nursing process approach. Result: The obtained assesment includes an increase in temperature, i.e. 37,9oC (patient I) and 37,6oC (patient II), warm and reddish skin. The appearing problems in nursing care of patient M were hypertermia, knowledge deficiency, and injury risk. Meanwhile the problems of patient A were hypertemia and the risk of fluid volume deficit. Discussion: Intervention and implementation that had been done were warm compress, giving antiseptic, health education about febrile seizure and handling of febrile seizure. The evaluations in three days showed that hypertermia was resolvable by warm compresses and antiseptic. Conclusion: Giving warm compress is an effective nursing care for patients with febrile seizure in decreasing their body temperature.
