Abstract
Background: Parents play a role in the development of personal qualities of children through the way they educate and care for their children. The parents’ parenting ways include guiding and disciplining their children to perform personal hygiene practice independently. Objective: To determine correlation between parents’ parenting and personal hygiene behavior of children in Rogodono 2 Elementary School of Buyan Kebumen. Methods: This is a correlation study using cross sectional approach. Samples consist of 69 respondents taken by total sampling technique. Data were analyzed by using descriptive and correlation analysis using chi square test. Results: the study found that the majority of children with democratic parenting pattern were 92.2%. Children who had good category of personal hygiene behavior were 75.0%. Conclusion: There correlation between parents’ parenting and personal hygiene behavior of children in Rogodono 2 Elementary School of Buyan Kebumen.
