Abstract
Background: Fulfillment of exclusive breastfeeding is given to an infant up to his age of 6 months. After he is 6 months old, breastmilk additional food is then given. It is 4 stars menu consisting of carbohydrates, animal protein, vegetable protein, and vegetables. This is given to meet the nutritional needs of the infants and to avoid him from malnutrition, stunting in the future. Objective: To apply counseling about breastmilk additional food towards the practice of giving 4-star breastmilk aditional food to infants aged 6-12 months in independent midwifery clinic of Midwife Jemanis in Kebumen. Method: This sientific study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. The participants were 5 mothers having 6-12 months infants. The instruments were observation sheets, questionnaires. Data were obtained from primary data in the form of interviews and observations. Result: After having counseling about breastmilk additional food, there was an improvement of the participants knowledge about breastmilk additional food, i.e. 3 participants are in good knowledge category (60%), 2 participants are in sufficient knowledge category (40%). In addition, all participans apply the 4-star menu breastmilk additional food. Conclusion: The application of counseling about breastmilk additional food increases the practice of giving 4-star breastmilk additional food to infants in the age of 6-12 months.
