Abstract
Background, Students who also carry out clinical practice as an integrated learning process, feel the clinical practice is also a challenge or threat, They express fear of the learning process they will face in the practice field, Fear of facing the actual nursing process, and how establishing good interpersonal relationships is a stressor for them. Nursing students need appropriate coping to cope with the stress experienced when participating in clinical practice so that they can solve problems, adapt to changes in the learning environment they face, and can provide an appropriate response to the stressful condition itself. Research purposes, The purpose of the study was to identify stress levels, sources of stress, and strategies for student coping mechanisms when carrying out Medical surgical nursing and basic human needs clinical practice. Research Methods, the method of this research is quantitative (descriptive) research, the subjects in this study are nursing students at the Muhammadiyah University of Gombong who are currently practicing of Medical surgical nursing and basic human needs clinics. Research results, the results of this study are gender were as many as 78 female respondents with a percentage of 70.9% and only 32 respondents (29.1%) male. As for the age of the respondents, 42 respondents (38.2%) were 20 years old, 38 respondents (34.5%) were 19 years old, and 30 respondents (27.3%) were 18 years old. the majority have moderate stress levels, as many as 67 respondents (60.9%) and 43 respondents (39.1%) have mild stress levels. the source of stress felt by students is sourced from stress from peers and daily life as many as 57 respondents (51.8 %). The most widely used coping strategy is problem-solving (57.3%) In conclusion, The results showed that the majority of students were at a moderate level of stress. The stressor that most appears and is felt by respondents is stress that comes from peers and daily life. Coping strategies to solve problems are the coping strategies that are mostly chosen by respondents to deal with stress that arises in the practice field. Recommendations for further researchers, Other researchers can develop this research by examining the relationship between the type of stressor and the level of stress and the effectiveness of the coping strategies used in dealing with stressful conditions that arise during clinical practice.
