Abstract
Background: The World Health Organization estimates hyperthermia cases worldwide, archiving 16-33 million and 500-600 mortality yearly. Hyperthermia can be treated combination of both pharmacology and non-pharmacology. Non-pharmacology therapy such as tepid sponge to decrease hyperthermia. Purpose: Giving nursing care to hyperthermia patients and apply non-pharmacology therapy, tepid sponges to decrease hyperthermia. Method: This study was a descriptive case study. Five children who had hyperthermia were recruited as respondents in this study. During three days, they were given pharmacology and non-pharmacology by nurses to decrease hyperthermia. Respondents got a tepid sponge as non-pharmacology. It was conducted along three minutes of a nursing shift every day for three days. Result: The respondents’ physical assessment results were skin warm, redness; average body temperature more than 37.20C; increasing pulse and breathing rate. Another therapy, except pharmacology, respondents got non-pharmacology treatment such as tepid sponge to reduce respondents’ body temperature. After getting all treatment for three days, respondents experienced body temperature reduction. Recommendation: Non-pharmacology therapy is the combination of pharmacology to reduce the body temperature of patients with hyperthermia
