Abstract

Background: Lactation management is an effort conducted by mothers and families to support successful breastfeeding. In Indonesia, breastfeeding has not been implemented optimally. The knowledge level is one of the factors how the health program will be successful. Health education will make people know about health information. One method in education is the "Brainstorming" method. Objective: To give nursing care for postpartum patients in primigravida with ineffective breastfeeding problems and practice the brainstorming method to educate patients' husbands and their families. Methods: This study was a descriptive case study with the cross-sectional approach. The number of five patients who experienced ineffective breastfeeding joined as respondents in this study. Result: The nurse collected data from the nursing assessment and looked at signs and symptoms (subjective and objective). All respondents said that they experienced ineffective breastfeeding. The nurse identified respondents' problems and gave health education such as lactation counseling, teaching breastfeeding techniques according to the mother's condition, then promoting exclusive breastfeeding. After getting intervention, all respondents showed an increase in knowledge and skills in breastfeeding effectively.
