Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a condition characterized by elevated blood pressure levels, which can lead to pain and even death. Common signs and symptoms of hypertension include headaches. The combination therapy of deep breathing relaxation and murottal has been identified as a potential approach to alleviate acute and chronic pain. This therapy involves engaging in slow, rhythmic breathing followed by listening to murottal, which promotes peace of mind and helps reduce depression, anxiety, and sadness. Objective: This study aims to explain nursing care for hypertensive patients with acute pain using the application of deep breathing relaxation and murottal relaxation therapy in the Al Ma'un Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital. Methods: A case study design was utilized, involving 5 hypertensive patients in the Al Ma'un Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital. Descriptive analysis was employed for data analysis. Result: The nursing problems identified in the 5 hypertensive patients included acute pain and disturbances in sleep patterns. Nursing interventions were implemented, focusing on pain management and sleep support over a 3-day treatment period. The application of the combination therapy of deep breathing relaxation and murottal resulted in a significant decrease in pain. Two patients had a pain scale reduction from 6 to 1, and three patients experienced a reduction from 5 to 1 on the pain scale after receiving the combined therapy for 3 days. Recommendation: Nurses are advised to incorporate a combination therapy of deep breathing relaxation and murottal relaxation for patients experiencing acute pain nursing problems.
