Abstract
Background: Hypertension is an increase in systolic blood pressure above 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure above 90 mmHg on 2 or more readings. Hypertension is a silent killer disease because hypertension is only recognized after complications occur. Hypertension has become a major public health problem in Indonesia and several countries in the world. Diet by consuming the recommended foods can control blood pressure because it is one of the treatments for people with hypertension. Some foods recommended for people with hypertension include reducing consumption of salty foods, reducing alcohol, eating more vegetables and fruit, avoiding foods such as animal parts, brains, thick coconut milk, chicken skin and drinking lots of water.. Purpose: To determine the level of adherence to a low salt diet in hypertensive patients. Method: This study used a quantitative descriptive method with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used a total sampling technique with a total sample of 63 people. The research instrument used a low-salt diet adherence questionnaire in hypertensive patients. Data were processed with SPSS-25 and analyzed using the Univariate test in the form of percentages. Result: The results of the study showed that the majority of respondents adhered to a low-salt diet, 52 people (76.5%) obeyed and 16 people (23.5%) disobeyed the diet they were on. Conclusion: The Compliance Level of the Low Salt Diet in Hypertension Patients in the working area of the Gombong Health Center is the majority of 52 people (76.5%) complying. Recommendation: For future researchers should conduct research using a design that can describe the relationship to find out the factors that cause adherence or not of hypertensive patients in running a low-salt diet
