Abstract
The background of this research is that diabetes mellitus is an increasing global health problem. According to the International Diabetes Mellitus Federation (IDF) in 2021, an estimated 537 million people suffer from diabetes mellitus, and this number is projected to reach 643 million in 2021. 2030, and 783 million in 2045. In addition, 541 million people are estimated to have impaired glucose tolerance in 2021. It is estimated that more than 6.7 million people aged 20–79 years will die from causes related to diabetes mellitus in 2021. Prevalence The incidence of diabetes mellitus continues to increase. Diabetes mellitus requires support in care for sufferers and families. Family support consists of information, appreciation, instrumental and emotional support. Family support is an important part in achieving optimal results. The aim of this research is to determine family support for diabetes mellitus patients in the Cempaka Room, Setjonegoro KRT Hospital, Wonosobo in 2023. The method of this research uses a cross-sectional technique with a quantitative descriptive study approach. The sample was 68 diabetes mellitus sufferers who met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using the Hensarling Diabetes Mellitus Family Support Scale Questionnaire to determine information, appreciation, instrumental and emotional support. The results of this research showed that family support for diabetes mellitus patients was good, with a percentage of 61.8%, information support 42.6%, appreciation 55.9%. , instrumental 75.0%, and emotional 72.1%. . The next research recommendation is family knowledge about diabetes mellitus so that it is hoped that it can improve optimal care for diabetes mellitus sufferers.
