Abstract
Background: Normal hemoglobin levels during pregnancy are crucial in preventing anemia and potential complications that may occur during pregnancy. Moringa leaf capsules contain iron, vitamin C, and antioxidants that support iron absorption in the body, while iron tablets aid in oxygen transport and the formation of red blood cells. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of adding moringa leaf capsules in increasing hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with anemia. Method: This research used a Quasi-experimental design. It was conducted at Ambal II Community Health Center in Kebumen in 2023 with a sample size of 30 respondents. Two groups were utilized in this study: the intervention group (moringa leaf capsules and iron tablets) and the control group (iron tablets only). Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The results indicate a significant difference in hemoglobin levels in the treatment group with a p-value of 0.008, with 14 pregnant women experiencing increased Hb. Meanwhile, the analysis showed a difference in the control group with a p-value of 0.007. However, 13 women experienced a decrease in Hb levels. Conclusion: The administration of moringa leaf capsules and iron tablets is more effective in increasing hemoglobin levels than using iron tablets alone. Recommendation: For future researchers, pay more attention to factors affecting the increase in hemoglobin levels, such as dietary patterns, knowledge about nutrition, overall health status, and activity levels.
