Abstract
Background: Hypertension is a significant issue with a high prevalence, resulting in sudden death and lasting impairment. According to World Health Organization (WHO), there are 1.13 billion people worldwide have hypertension in 2018. Every year, the number of hypertension patients grows. It is anticipated that by 2025, there are 1.5 billion people would have hypertension, with 10.44 million fatalities as a result of hypertension and its consequences. Objective: To investigate acute pain nursing care in hypertension patients using alternative nostril breathing technique to reduce blood pressure. Method: This study used a descriptive case study design. This study included five persons with hypertension who were hospitalized due to acute pain. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Results: The evaluation results showed that alternate nostril breathing therapy reduced pain by 3 points, systolic blood pressure by 38 points, and diastolic blood pressure by 20 points. Conclusion: Alternate nostril breathing therapy can reduce pain scale and blood pressure in hypertension patients.
