Abstract
Background: Abdominal colic is visceral pain caused by spasm of the smooth muscles of hollow organs and is usually also caused by obstructions to passage such as increased intralumen, intestinal obstruction, and ureteral stones. Objective: To explain nursing care for abdominal colic patients with acute pain nursing problems in the emergency room at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Method: This research uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The sample consisted of 5 abdominal colic patients. The case study instrument uses SOP for deep breathing positions, SOP for administering lavender aromatherapy and observation sheets before and after administering deep breathing therapy and lavender aromatherapy. Nursing Care Results: Results of the application carried out on 5 patients, all of whom experienced acute pain nursing problems and were given deep breathing therapy for 15- 30 minutes first, then lavender aromatherapy was given simultaneously for 10-15 minutes, after the intervention ended 15 minutes later measurements were taken by using an observation sheet. Then observed before and after therapy. After applying the therapy to 5 patients, the results showed a decrease in the pain scale, grimacing attitude, restless attitude and protective attitude. Recommendation: The results of this study can be applied to patients with complaints of acute pain to reduce the pain scale, grimace, restlessness and protective attitude using non-pharmacological therapy. Conclusion: The results of implementing innovative nursing actions showed that there was a decrease in the pain scale, grimacing attitude, restless attitude and protective attitude.
