Abstract

Background: A fracture is a break in bone continuity either caused by impact trauma or pathological abnormalities. One of its treatments is surgery. Surgery is a method of action to replace the fracture to its original position. Wounds resulting from surgery can cause trauma and pain to the patient. Methods of pain treatment can be pharmacological and non-pharmacological. The non-pharmacological one that is often used to treat pain is distraction technique. This technique can be done with the visual distraction of watching cartoons. Objective: This study aims to determine the effects of visual distraction on pain intensity in post-humeral orifice surgery patients on the first day. Method: This was case study research. In this investigation, five subjects served as samples. Results: Analysis by examining the results of observations before and after visual distraction for 10 minutes/day for three days resulted in a decrease in pain of three (3). The results of the analysis showed a decrease in the scale of pain before and after the intervention. Recommendation: visual distraction can reduce pain in post orifice humerus patients
