Abstract
Background ; Compliance is very important in the realm of diet success. One way to deal with DM is to follow a strict diet, which is not easy to maintain consistently. Support from the family is a real contribution that plays a very active role in influencing the implementation of the DM diet. The results of a preliminary study at Prembun Hospital, Kebumen showed that in April-June 2023, the number of visits from patients with diabetes mellitus was reported to be 216 patients. Objective : To determine the relationship between family support and adherence to diet in DM patients at Prembun Regional Hospital, Kebumen. Method : This research is a correlational descriptive design. Samples taken from 90 emergency room, polyclinic and inpatient patients were taken using purposive sampling technique. Results : Based on chi square analysis (X²), the p value was 0.002 with (p < 0.05) so Ho was accepted. So there is a relationship between family support and diet compliance in DM patients at Prembun Hospital, Kebumen. Conclusion : Proving that there is a relationship between family support and adherence to diet in DM patients at Prembun Hospital, Kebumen. So that the majority of moderate family support is received in the informational domain, the percentage of good family support is mostly received by family support in the emotional and instrumental domains. The largest percentage of research results were respondents who received DM diet compliance in the adherent category. Recommendation : It is recommended that future researchers be able to conduct research on the relationship between family motivation/role and diet compliance in DM patients
