Abstract

Background: The prevalence of bullying incidents is 41% among 15-year-old children who experience bullying at least a few times a month. The Indonesian Child Protection Commission has recorded 5,246 child complaints in the field of education, including 1,060 cases of school violence. Bullying has significant impacts on victims, including depression, self-directed anger, academic decline, and isolation behaviors. The incidence of verbal bullying at MTS Asy Syaafi’iyyah Madureso is approximately 30%, and physical bullying is around 20% in grades 7 and 8. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of bullying education on knowledge and attitudes towards bullying using animated videos among adolescents at Asy Syaafi’iyyah Madureso. Methods: This research is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental one group pretest-posttest design. Education was provided twice a week for a month, with each session lasting approximately 120 minutes. Knowledge and attitudes towards bullying were measured using a questionnaire. Results: The research results show that out of 63 respondents, the majority are 13 years old (40.9%), with 27 respondents. A good level of knowledge about bullying was found in 88.9% of respondents, totaling 56. Bullying behavior was categorized as good and sufficient in 31.7% of respondents, amounting to 20. This study indicates a significant relationship between bullying education using animated videos and knowledge and attitudes towards bullying among adolescents (p-value 0.000) < alpha (0.05). Conclusion: Based on this study, it is expected that bullying education can be implemented as a continuous educational program for adolescents. Recommendation: Future researchers may use measurement instruments for knowledge levels with more comprehensive questions.
