Abstract
Background: Surgery on BPH (Benigna Prostate Hyperplasia) may cause anxiety for patients. A nurse has an educator role that is certainly indispensable in reducing anxiety on preoperative BPH patients. Spiritual trust also has an important role in dealing with anxiety. Murrotal Al-Qur'an is a kind of 50 decibelintensity music that carries a positive influence, such as reducing anxiety. Objective: To know the effectiveness of health education and Murottal Al-Qur'an therapy on the anxiety level of pre-operative BPH patients in Muhammadiyah Hospital of Gombong. Method: This study is a quasi experimental with pre test-post test non equivalent control group approach. The sample were 42 respondents taken by non probability sampling. Data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis and also comparative analysis using paired t test. Result:. After having health education, the anxiety level of preoperative BPH patients is categorized to be mild anxiety (95.2%). And after having Murottal AlQur'an therapy, the anxiety level is also categorized to be mild anxiety (100%). Conclusion: Providing health education and Murottal Al-Qur'an therapy are effective to decrease the anxiety level of preoperative BPH patients.
