Abstract
Background: Snack food is ready-to-eat food which contains dangerous ingredients such as artificial dyes, borax and formalin, the equipment used is not hygienic, food contaminated with bacteria, can be purchased at street vendors without reprocessing so that it can be consumed directly on site, and children become the habit of not having breakfast before leaving school. the prevalence of infectious diseases in children such as ARI, malaria and diarrhea in children has decreased. The prevalence of ARI dropped from 13.8% to 4.4%, malaria dropped from 1.4% to 0.4%, diarrhea in children also dropped from 18.5% to 12.3%. So the authors are interested in providing an application of educational therapy to the knowledge and habits of snack foods in children at the family development stage of school-age children aged 6-12 years. Objective: To implement educational therapy on street food for children at the stage of development of school-age children in Giwangretno Village, Sruweng District Method: The method used was quasy experimental study with a village pre-test and post-test to study the knowledge and habits of snack foods for children at the family development stage of school-age children. The sample size is 2 families, with family characteristics that have children aged 6-12 years, cooperative families, families that can follow the whole action from beginning to end Results: Interventions and implementation carried out in the form of the application of education to knowledge and snacks. In the evaluation conducted for 5x, the results obtained were significant in increasing the family knowledge of Mr. K from 60 to 75 and family from Mr. A from 65 to 75 and reduced snack food habits in school-age children. Recommendation: the application of snack food health workers is an effective way to increase parents' knowledge and reduce snack food habits in school-age children
