Abstract
Background: The highest cause of neonatal death is tetanus neonaturum infection, one of which is caused by improper umbilical cord care, so it takes the role of health workers to conduct health education in post partum mothers about the management of umbilical cord care in newborns. Writing Objectives: Understanding the picture of spontaneous post partum nursing care with nursing problems deficit maternal knowledge about umbilical cord care in newborns at Dr. Soedirman Hospital Kebumen. Methods: Descriptive with a case study approach in the form of nursing care, of 2 spontaneous post partum patients who experienced nursing problems knowledge deficiency of umbilical cord care in newborns. Results: After 3x15 minutes of nursing action the problem of knowledge deficiency related to lack of information was resolved. Knowledge of post partum mothers about cord care is increasingly evidenced by the increasing value of knowledge in Client I, from initial value 2 to 4 from limited knowledge to a lot of knowledge and to do cord care for newborns independently. Recommendation: It is hoped that health workers will be able to contribute in developing science and technology related to the implementation of spontaneous post partum patients and cord care for newborns.
