Abstract
Background: Ginger aromatherapy is one of the complementary therapies in cancer patients who experience nausea vomiting after undergoing chemotherapy. Nausea and vomiting can reduce daily activities and cause cancer patients to only be able to lie in bed and not be able to fulfill their needs in activities. Objective: Analyzing nursing care for cancer patients with nausea nursing problems using ginger aromatherapy. Method: This scientific work uses descriptive analytic case study design, how to retrieve data by evaluating the results of the actions taken. Results of nursing care: The results showed that the effect of ginger aromatherapy, the patient reappeared his sense of appetite, reduced nausea, increased changes in nutritional status and malaises, the conclusion of the study was that respondents using ginger aromatherapy post chemotherapy at Prof. Dr. Margono General Hospital Soekardjo Purwokerto experienced a decrease in nausea, this is because ginger aromatherapy can block serotonin, a neurotransmitter synthesized in neuro-neuro serotonergis in the central nervous system and enterochromafine cells that can provide a comfortable feeling that can overcome nausea and vomiting. Recommendation: It is expected that the next researcher can provide comprehensive nursing care and apply nursing innovartion by using ginger aromatherapy in post chemotherapy patients with nausea problems.
