Abstract
Background, The phenomenon of the mother's visit the neighborhood health center (posyandu) in Indonesia there are fewer than 280 225 Posyandu only 40% are still active. Posyandu has many benefits for the community, but in the village posyandu not much use because mother lack of knowledge about Posyandu. In the Karangjati village, there were 13 respondents to posyandu Karangjati inactive to come to Posyandu. Visiting Posyandu is a way of determine to toddler growth. The effected if the mother does not routinely go to posyandu the toddler will not monitor well it growth. Objective, Determining the characteristics of mothers includes, employment, age, parity. Knowing the mother's knowledge about the use of Posyandu. Knowing the characteristics of the mother in utilization of Posyandu. Methods, The method in this research used quantitative research methods with correlation methods design by using a cross-sectional approach. Total sample was 65 respondents. The measuring instruments using was a questionnaire. The analysis the using statistical test Chi square formula Result, Based on the results showed that knowledge of mothers with good category as many as 31 respondents (44.7%), just 23 respondents (35.4%), while 11 respondents (16.9%) of mothers who attended as many as 52 respondents (80%) and those who were not present as many as 13 respondents (20%). Conclusion, There is a relationship with the mother's knowledge in the use of the mother's participation in the posyandu Karangjati village, Sampang, Cilacap regency with a p-value = 0.001 (<0.05) Recommendations, In order to use a different method, namely using interviews / qualitative to determine the factors that may affect the use of the opt mother in Posyandu
