Abstract
Background:Injuries of the birth canal is the second leading cause of bleeding after an atonic. Birth canal injuries (perineal rupture) is also a considerable problem in Asia (50% of the world perineal rupture). One of five mothers suffering from perineal rupture in Indonesia will die. Perineal rupture can be overcome by conducting perineum massage with hands-on modification. Objective: Knowing the application of perineum massage with hands-on modification to drecrease the incidence of perineal rupture in independent midwifery clinic of Midwife Eko Setyorini. Method:This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. Participants were 5 primigravida mothers in their 34 weeks or more pregnancy having hands-on modification during their delivery process. Data were obtained through questionnaires and observation. Result: After having more than 5 times perineal massage with hands-on modification, there was an elastic change of perineum rupture of all participants. In addition, 2 participants did not have rupture, but 3 participants had degree 1 rupture. Conclusion: Perineal massage with hands-on modification can reduce perineum rupture.
