Abstract
Background: The rate of febrile seizure in Indonesia is reported to reach 2-4% from 2012-2013. While the Central Java Province in 2012-2013 reached 2-3%. The febrile seizure causes brain damage and epilepsy, so the parents especially mother has to know the right handling. Mother should get more knowledge in handling the febrile seizure to prevent complications early. Objective: To know the description of Parents Knowledge in handling febrile seizure. Method: This research belongs to descriptive research and used purposive sampling technique, consisted 60 respondents. Results: The respondents of this study are mostly 26-35 years old (43.3%), housewife (53.3%), high school graduate (65%), the information’s receiver about handling febrile seizure by the midwife (35%). Conclusion: The mother’s knowledge about handling febrile seizure in RS PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng is adequate (50%). Recommendation: Education about handling the febrile seizure to increase parent’s knowledge by leaflet, booklet and video media, so that it can minimize the occurrence of serious complications
