Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, can attack the lungs and other organs. The source of transmission is positive tuberculosis patients with acid-sputum (droplet) that it releases. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of adherence of adult pulmonary TB patients in treatment with patient characteristics. This type of research is a prospective study with a cross sectional approach including 80 respondents. Retrieval of interview data by questionnaire was processed with MMAS (Morisky Medication Adherence Scale). The sample is intensive pulmonary TB sufferers, aged 15-55 years of treatment in May-June 2020. Analysis techniques is using Chi-Square. Research results: patients the majority of pulmonary TB are 56 males (70%) while females are 24 (30%), 60 patients were compliant (75%) and 20 patients (25%) were less compliant, for the majority of those aged 35-44 and 45-55 years with 33.75% adherence, the majority of high school adherence levels were 47.5%, private employment was 35%, with monthly income levels 1- 2 million 40%, sufferers who have 40% drug swallowing supervisor (PMO), high motivation 97.5% and respondents with good knowledge 95%. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between drug swallowing supervisor (PMO) and knowledge with the level of compliance of pulmonary TB patients with each value of p = 0.02 because it is smaller than 0.05. There was no significant relationship between sex p = 0.22; age p = 0.66; education p = 0.79; job 0.40; motivation p = 0.38; and income p = 0.38 with patient compliance. The level of knowledge shows more than 50% of sufferers understand the knowledge about the use of OAT at BP4 Purwokerto.
