Abstract

Background: The ineffectiveness of airway clearance is the inability to clear secretions or airway obstruction to keep the airway patent. The impact is the accumulation of secretions. To reduce the effectiveness of airway clearance in pneumonia children can be done by honey administration therapy. Objective: To describe nursing care ineffectiveness in cleansing the airway by administering honey to reduce the frequency of coughing, breathing frequency, and breathing sounds in pneumonia children. Method: This research method is descriptive with a case study approach. The subjects in this study were two children aged 4 years who were in the District of Wadaslintang, Wonosobo Regency. Before and after the treatment of honey given as much as 2.5 cc for 3 times in 4 meetings the researchers observed the results of physical examination in children with pneumonia. Results: After administering honey therapy for 3 times in 4 meetings as much as 2.5 cc cough frequency, breathing frequency, and breathing sound changes that had been Respiration Rite 33 X / minute and 31 X / minute, there was a pull in the chest wall, and Ronchi after honey therapy was changed to 28 X / Minute and 25 X / Minute, there was no traction of the chest wall, and no ronchi breathing sound. Conclusion: Honey therapy can reduce the frequency of coughing, breathing frequency, and rhythmic breath sounds in children with pneumonia when at home. Recommendation: Researchers will be develop the application of honey therapy for other cases such as wound healing.
