Abstract

Background: Hypertensi is one of the main risk factors for death du to cardovascular disorders. Hypertension is inflenced by several factors including genetic, stress, excess salt consumption, coffee consumption, smoking, and emotional disturbances. One effective non-pharmacological management is to use progressive musle relaxation therapy can be done independently, relatively easily done. Obejective: to describe nursing care and application by giving progressive muscle relaxationto decrease blood pressure. Method: this scientific paper is case study of nursing care in hypertension patients, it is quantiative descriptive with a case study of approach. Data were collected from interview, direct obsrevation and physical examination which after did the treatment on two subjects. There was a result then being valued. Result: After having progressive muscle relaxation for 5 days or 10 encounter in 15 minutes there was a decrease in the systole blood pressure by 25-30 mmHg and in diastole by 25-30 mmHg. Conclusion: after having progressive musle relaxation is effective for decreasing blood presure of hypertension patients. Recommendation: it is advisable for hypetension patients to do progressive muscle relaxation to reduce high pressure.
