Abstract
Background: Based on the Department of Health (2015) the number of patients with hypertension in the elderly is 40.2%. This is due to unhealthy lifestyles such as rarely exercising and consuming fast food. Objective: To conduct health education about hypertension and traditional medicines to reduce blood pressure in families with the elderly in the Sampang Village area. Method: The method used is descriptive method. The instrument used was a blood pressure measuring device (sphygmomanometer) and a questionnaire about hypertension. This research was conducted on December 30, 2019 to January 18, 2020. The case study subjects were the elderly with hypertension. Data collected by interview. Observation and documentation. Results: health education was carried out twice with leaflet and flipchart media with 30 minutes and evaluate knowledge and blood pressure at the beginning and end of the meeting. Evaluate Mr. T's knowledge before being given Tn.T's health education 30% to 90% after being given health education. While evaluating the level of knowledge of Ny.S before being given health education 10% to 90%. So that shows an increase in knowledge and changes in health behavior. Conclusion: hypertension health education is an effective way to increase knowledge and change health behavior.
