Abstract

Background: sleep disorder has a bad impact on elderly people. It can influence physical, psychological, and mental health conditions. Five fingers relaxation is a nonpharmacological therapy which can be applied without side effects, especially to individuals who have sleep disturbance. Objective: to find out the effect of the five-finger relaxation technique on the sleep quality of elderly people. Methods: this study was a literature review design, the researcher searched articles electronically such as Pubmed, Research Gate, Google Scholar, and Google Scholar published in 2010-2020. Result: Based on 10 selected research articles the five-finger relaxation technique had a significant influence on a person's sleep quality. It had an important role to make comfort conditions, sleep quality, psychological and able to decrease stress level, and difficulty concentrating when the individual's wake up. Conclusion: the five fingers relaxation can increase sleep quality on the elderly. Recommendation: the health providers were expected can utilize the intervention of this when they take care of patients with sleep disorders problems
