Abstract

Background: Antacid is acid-binding substances which is derived from the word anti which means "opposite", and acidus which means "acid." Antacid drug is weak bases that bind chemically and neutralize stomach acid. Objective: To determine the profile of knowledge and use of antacid drug in outpatient clinic at Petanahan Community Health Center in Kebumen Regency. Method: The design used in this study is quantitative descriptive, which is a method that provides a description or descriptive analysis of the situation using a valid questionnaire that has been prepared to determine the level of patient knowledge in taking antacid drugs, which will be divided into three categories: Good, Fair and Lack of knowledge, researcher conducted research within 1 week. Results: Respondents' knowledge of how to use antacid drug in outpatient clinic at Petanahan Community Health Center in Kebumen Regency with a percentage of 58% had quite good knowledge. Conclusion: The level of knowledge in outpatient clinic at Petanahan Community Health Center in Kebumen Regency is quite good with a percentage of 58%. Recommendation: Researcher can further compare the factors of non-compliance with the use of antacid drug.
