Abstract

Background: Facial skin problems can have an impact on health and appearance that affect selfconfidence. One the causes is free radicals that play a role in skin dermatological disorders. The use of synthetic antioxidant in facial wash products have dangerous side effects if accumulated in the long term. Ganitri leaf is one of the plants that has the potential as a natural antioxidant Purposes: Get a facial wash formulation that has good characteristics and effective as an antioxidant. Method: Facial wash preparations were made by varing the concentration of SLS, namely F1 (0.25%), F2 (0.5%) and F3 (1%). The formula that shows the best characteristics from the results of physical evaluation (organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, specific gravity, foaming power, spreadability, irritation test, hedonic test and physical stability) will be continued with antioxidant activity testing using the DPPH method. Result: The results showed that the variation of SLS concentration significantly affected the physical evaluation of the preparation with p<0.05. Formula 3 (SLS 1%) provides the best facial wash characteristics with the results of the test parameters meeting the standards. The result of the antioxidant activity test showed that formula 3 had an IC50 value of 17.36 ppm with ascorbic acid as a comparison of 10.70 ppm and negative control of 54.11 ppm. Conclusion: Formula 3 facial wash ganitri leaf methanol extract with 1% SLS concentration has good characteristics and is effective as an antioxidant with a very strong category. Recommendation: Buffer modification and the use of ABTS and FRAP methods in antioxidant activity testing
