Abstract

Background, ganitri leaf (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb) is one of the natural plants that can be used to treat of inflammation and made cream preparations. Research purpose, the aim of this study was to make cream preparation from aquadest extract ganitri leaf (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb) as a safer alternative to anti-inflammatory treatment. Methods, in this study cream preparations were made at a dose of 50, 100, 200 mg/kgBB and were carried out on 25 wistar white rats which divided into t group. Group I is a negative control (cream without extract), group II as a positive control (Voltaren gel), group III as a formula 1 (50 mg/kgBW), group IV as a formula 2 (100 mg/kgBW), and group V as a formula 3 (200 mg/kgBW). Then the best antiinflammatory activity was tested for physical evaluation of the preparation. Result, the results showed that group 3 ganitri leaves (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb) aquadest extract 200 mg/kgBB had a best anti-inflammatory effect because it has the highest percentage of anti-inflammatory effect and has a p < 0,05 or significantly different when compared to the positive, negative control, and meet the requirements of the physical evaluation of the preparation. Conclusion, based on the results of the research, extract of ganitri leaf (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb) can be made into cream preparations. The cream preparations in formula 3 using extract concentration of 200 mg/kgBW meets the requirements for the physical evaluation of the preparation. Recommendation, recommendation from this study are that further research needs to be done using different methods, solvents, and preparation.
