Abstract

Background: The increasing of elderly population in Indonesia up to 14,45 milion in 2010 is accompanied also by various health problems experienced by elderly, one of them is sleep disturbance. Problems of sleep disturbance in elderly, one of by giving music therapy. Music therapy can provide a relaxing effect so that the elderly will easily fall asleep. Objective: The purpose of this case study is to find out the application of music therapy to elderly in nursing care with sleep disturbance in kedungpring city. Method: This scientific paper is qualitative with a case study approach. Data were obtained from case study studies, assessment sheets, direct observation of 3 clients with disorders sleeping in Kedungpring Village Kemranjen District Banyumas for 7 meetings with an implementation time of 30 minutes. The instruments uset are music box observation sheet and SOP for therapy music with a combination of java. Results: The PSQI skor on the frist client before being given music therapy was 12 (poor sleep quality) and after being given music therapy was 2 (good sleep quality), while the PSQI score on the second client before being given therapy music was 12 (poor sleep quality) and after being given music therapy was 2 (good sleep quality) while the PSQI score on the tri client before being given music therapy was 12 (pooe sleep quality) and after being given music therapy was 2 (good sleep quality). Conclusion: Music therapy can improve sleep quality on elderly nursing care with sleep disturbance in kedungpring city.
