Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a long-term condition where the kidneys do not work as well as they should. Kidney disease can affect the body’s ability to clean blood, filter extra water out of blood, and help control blood pressure. Need an intervention to solve this problem. Ice cube therapy can reduce the sensation of thirsty in CKD patients. Objective: Giving nursing care and applying nursing application to chronic kidney disease. Method: This study was a descriptive case study with the cross-sectional approach. Three patients with chronic kidney disease in Tanggeran Village, Sruweng Sub-District of Kebumen, were recruited as respondents in this study. The nurse made a meeting with respondents three times. At each meeting, the Nurse gave health education and explained how to reduce thirsty with ice cube therapy. After respondents did treatment, the nurse measured the sensation of thirsty of respondents. Result: All respondents got sucking the ice cubes therapy twice a meeting during 10-15 minutes. Respondents experienced reducing thirst sensation before treatment (8-6) and after treatment (6-2). Recommendation: This resulting study references problem-solving for chronic kidney disease, which is getting a sensation of thirst in line with fluid restriction.
