Abstract

Background: One of the physical setbacks that occur is musculoskeletal due to reduced muscle mass.Due to this physical decline,there are physical problems that are often experienced by the elderly on a daily basis,such as the risk of falling.The risk of falling is due to weakening of the muscles in the elderly. Objective: Describing a primary study on nursing care by providing foot massage therapy in reducing the risk of falling in elderly patients. Methods: The data collection method chosen is descriptive method in the form of case studies that use the nursing process.The data collection process used to interview and observation techniques. The respondents of this study consisted of 3 patients aged 60-65 years.Measurements were made using a tug test to assess balance. Results: After applying foot massage therapy to the elderly for 5 days,the average value of the client 1 tug test value was 33,18 seconds to 16,21 seconds.On client 2 the tug test value was 35,01 seconds to 19,50 seconds. On client 3 tug test value 45,01 seconds to 26,06 seconds Conclusion: The application of foot massage therapy in the elderly showed that in all three patients there was a decrease in the risk of falling as evidenced by improved balance
