Abstract

Background: Prolonged labor is one of the causes of maternal mortality in Indonesia. To cope with this prolonged labor, it can be done by providing emotional support through the application of the left-side menan and half-sitting position. By doing so, it can accelerate the descent of baby's head, the mother is more relaxed and she will be able to open her pelvis wider. This will increase the mother's enthusiasm to push so that it can shorten the duration of second phase labor. Objective: To know the application of left-side menan and half-sitting for preventing prolonged second phase labor of maternity mothers. Method: This scientific paper is an analytical descriptive with a case-study approach. Data obtained through interview and direct observation. The participants were 3 maternity. Result: After applying left-side menan and half-sitting position, there was an acceleration of all participants during second phase labor: duration in 8 minutes (participant 1), 7 minutes (participant 2), and 12 minutes (participant 3). Conclusion: The application of left-side menan and half-sitting position can prevent the length of second phase labor.
