Abstract

Background: According to WHO, Covid-19 is a highly contagious disease and causes many deaths. Health workers as the front line are increasingly under pressure due to the surge in cases of Covid-19, the second wave that will occur in Indonesia in June-August 2021. This has resulted in an increase in the workload of nurses and can lead to mental disorders that occur due to the covid-19 pandemic such as anxiety, stress, panic, depression, fear, sadness, anger, and frustration. The high anxiety experienced by nurses will have negative impacts such as weak social relationships, stigma against nurses, drug abuse, anger, and conflicts between health workers including nurses and the government. Objective: to describe the level of anxiety experienced by nurses in dealing with COVID-19 patients at Dr Sudirman Hospital, Kebumen. Methods: This research is a descriptive quantitative design. A sample of 62 nurses at RSUD Dr Sudirman Kebumen was taken using proportionate random sampling technique. Results: The characteristics of most of the respondents aged 25-30 years, female sex, with a working period of 6-10 years and 11-15 years and the majority of them are DIII Nursing. Conclusion: The description of anxiety in dealing with Covid-19 patients is mostly respondents with mild anxiety levels as many as 38 respondents (61.3%). Recommendation: As an evaluation material for hospitals to improve the quality of nursing services for patients with Covid-19 by paying attention to the anxiety level of nurses and overcoming these anxiety disorders with appropriate therapy and recreation.
