Abstract
Background: General anesthesia is one of the techniques used in surgical procedures (Islami, 2012). 2,5% of post-anesthesia complications were found (Mahlia, 2012). Syam, E. H (2013), mentions 70% incidence of hypothermia in postoperative patients. Hypothermia can cause metabolic rate, in the cardiovascular nervous system, tachycardia occurs, peripheral blood vessel resensipe, so that it can cause shivering (Rositasari, 2017). Harahap (2014) stated that the negative impacts of patients with hypothermia include increased bleeding risk, myocardial ischemia, longer post-anesthesia recovery, impaired wound healing, and increased risk of infection. Objective: Determining the factors associated with hypothermia in postoperative general anesthesia patients in the Recovery Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Method: Analytical observational quantitative research. The research sample was 60 respondents post general anesthesia surgery with consecutive sampling technique. The test used is Chi-Square. Research results: There was no relationship between the age factor (p = 0.225) and hypothermia, there was no relationship between sex factor (p = 0.094) and hypothermia, there was no relationship between the surgical wound area factor (p = 0.313) and hypothermia, there was no relationship between the factors length of operation (p = 0.225) with hypothermia, there is no relationship between BMI factor (p = 0.335) and hypothermia, there is a relationship between type surgery (p = 0.006) and hypothermia, there is a relationship between operating room temperature factor (p = 0.025) with hypothermia in postoperative general anesthesia patients. Conclusion: There is no relationship between age, gender, surgical wound and BMI. There is a relationship between the extent of duration of operation, type of operation, and operating room temperature in postoperative general anesthesia patients in the Recovery Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital.
