Abstract

Background, Hyperthermia is a body temperature above normal. Fever occurs due to the inability of the heat loss mechanism to compensate for excess heat production, and then an increase in body temperature. Management of fever is very useful to reduce the discomfort caused by an increase in the patient's temperature. Pharmacological management is by administering antipyretics and non-pharmacological, one of which is the tepid water sponge. Based on the results of a preliminary study, 17 patients with febrile children with hyperthermia were found in May-June 2021 in the Inayah’s room, PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong. Objective, Analyzing the nursing care of Febris patients with hyperthermia using the tepid water sponge technique in the Inayah Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong. Method, This study used a descriptive method by analyzing water tepid sponge application on hyperthermia. Result, In this case study of the five patients were hyperthermia, the interventions given were: pharmacological therapy as recommended, and non-pharmacological techniques: tepid water sponge 3x24 hours 10-15 minutes, and monitored temperature before and after the procedure. From the five hyperthermic patients experienced a decrease in temperature, before and after the procedure, there was a decrease in body temperature with an average decrease of 0.3oC per procedure, and the overall total for 3x24 hours an average decrease of 1.3oC. Recommendation, The results of this study can be applied to patients with complaints of hyperthermia in order to reduce body temperature by non-pharmacological
