Abstract

Background: Asthma is a non-communicable disease. Asthma is a persistent disease in which the state of the airways of the lungs is equalized and further restricts. Aromatherapy eucalyptus oil with hot water vapor for cases of shortness of breath in asthma is because in previous studies, inhalation therapy using eucalyptus oil aromatherapy in reducing the degree of shortness of breath is quite effective with a simple and easy therapeutic method. Research Objectives: To explain nursing care using eucalyptus oil aromatherapy with hot water steam to reduce shortness of breath in asthma patients in the emergency room of Panti Waluyo Purworejo Hospital. Research Method: The type of research is a case study with 5 asthmatic patients with shortness of breath. This study focuses on nursing care with eucalyptus oil aroma therapy with hot water to increase the effectiveness of airway clearance in asthmatic patients with shortness of breath. The presentation in the form of narration and tables. Documentation is presented in the form of nursing care to make conclusions based on subjective and objective data. Research Results: Based on the assessment of all asthmatic clients suffering from ineffective breathing patterns which are characterized by dyspnea, the presence of respiratory accessory muscles, respiratory frequency, rhythm and depth of breath that are not normal. After being given the aromatherapy of eucalyptus oil in hot steam, the asthma client's breathing pattern is getting better. Conclusion: the application of eucalyptus oil aroma therapy in hot water steam can overcome shortness of breath.
