Abstract
Background: Non-hemorrhagic stroke is the loss of brain function caused by the cessation of blood supply to parts of the brain and is usually caused by thrombosis, embolism, and ischemia. According to Basic Health Research data (2013), the prevalence of stroke in Indonesia is 12.1 per 1,000 people. Stroke has become the leading cause of death in almost all Indonesian hospitals (14.5). A nursing intervention to increase muscle strength in SNH patients is mirror therapy. Mirror therapy includes superimposition of shadows from healthy limb movements to the paresis extremities for patients to observe that both extremities can move. Objective: To analyze the cases of managed Non-Hemorrhagic Stroke (SNH) clients with hemiparesis in PKU Muhammdiyah Sruweng Hospital. Method: This study was a descriptive case study. Five Non-Hemorrhagic Stroke patients who have impaired physical mobility problems were recruited as respondents in this study. All respondents got pharmacology and got mirror therapy as a non-pharmacology intervention. Result: After nursing mirror therapy for three days, all respondents significantly increased muscle strength. Conclusion: Mirror muscle therapy as a nursing intervention can significantly increase muscle strength and be used as non-pharmacology therapy. Recommendations: Further research can apply mirror therapy to increase muscle strength of patients with Non-Hemorrhagic Stroke.
