Abstract

Background: Medicinal plants are plants that contain an active substance that is beneficial for health that can be used as a cure for a disease. The study of ethnobotany has a dual purpose, because in addition to being useful for humans, the environment, and the protection of this knowledge, through the protection of the plant species used. Purpose of Research: To find out about plants and plant parts that are used as medicinal ingredients and the types of diseases that can be treated with medicinal plants in Kebumen District, Ambal District. Research Methods: The research was conducted using survey techniques, and semi-structured interviews. A sample of 100 respondents came from the villages of Petangkuran, Dukuh Rejosari, Gondanglegi, Ambarwinangun, and Sidomulyo in the Ambal district. Results: Based on the research results, it is known that there are 31 families consisting of 49 plant species. The most widely used plant by the people of Ambal District is the Zingiberaceae family with 10 species (20.4%). The part that is widely used is the leaves (55.1%), tends to be processed by boiling (73.5%) and the way its use is drunk (87.8%). Conclusion: There are 31 families consisting of 49 plant species. The plants most widely used by the people of Ambal District are the Zingiberaceae family. The part that is widely used is the leaves, which tend to be processed by boiling and drinking. Recommendation: It is hoped that the next researcher can conduct further research on the active content of 49 types of plants used by the people of Ambal District as well as conservation efforts to avoid the extinction of traditions from generation to generation.
