Abstract
Background: Dementia is a syndrome, which results in a functional decline in cognitive function, which can occur one day, due to cerebrovascular and neurodegenerative processes in the brain, which can interfere with daily activities, such as: impaired perception, being forgetful, impaired language, calculation, judgment. as well as learning. One of the interventions in the elderly with dementia, which is applied to improve cognitive function, is Brain Vitalization Gymnastics Therapy. Objective: the goal was to discover nursing care for the elderly with memory disorders as well as Brain Vitalization Gymnastics Therapy for dementia in the aged in Pandansari Village, Sruweng District. Research Methods: The descriptive case study approach is used in this final scientific work. The instruments used were observation papers and Mini Mental State Exam (MMSE) assessment sheets. The participants were five senior dementia patients with a primary problem of memory disorder. Result: The nursing problem taken by the author is memory disorder. After doing nursing for 8 times treatment of brain vitalization exercise therapy proved to be effective in improving cognitive function in elderly dementia. Recommendation: It is hoped that health services will make the results of this study an evidence base in nursing practice. The results of the study can be used as input in determining policies and the basis for preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Brain Vitalization Gymnastics Therapy in elderly dementia.
