Abstract

Background; Labor is a process that takes place naturally where there is stretching and dilation of the cervix due to uterine muscle contractions to push the baby out. Normal labor is divided into four stages in 24 hours. During the first stage of labor, the mother will feel pain. Pain occurs when the uterine muscles contract to open the cervix so that the baby's head is pushed towards the pelvis. Untreated labor pain will cause problems that will complicate the delivery process. Acupressure therapy is one of the non-invasive techniques of traditional Chinese medicine which can have an effect on labor induction and reduce the intensity of labor pain. Acupressure therapy helps release endorphins and other neurotransmitters which can relieve pain sensations. Objective; Explaining nursing care for pathological spontaneous labor of the 1st stage by giving acupressure therapy to patients with labor pain problems. Methods; This final scientific paper used a descriptive case study research design. The case study instrument used a pain assessment observation sheet and acupressure therapy SOPs. The case study subjects were 5 patients with pathological spontaneous labor in the active phase of the 1st stage with the main nursing problem of labor pain. The results of nursing care; Diagnosis that emerged in the patient was labor pain related to cervical dilatation. The author performs non-pharmacological pain management therapy by providing acupressure therapy. The results of the evaluation of nursing care showed that there was a decrease in the patient's pain scale after acupressure therapy was carried out. Recommendation, It is hoped that acupressure therapy can be used as an alternative in alleviating the pain scale in labor patients
