Abstract

Background: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs in the respiratory tract which has symptoms of repeated coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath and usually occurs at night or in the early morning due to obstruction in the respiratory tract. The presence of blockage in the respiratory tract makes asthma sufferers become congested and causes ineffective airway clearance problems. The innovation intervention given is by doing inflatable balloon therapy to overcome the problem of ineffective airway clearance. Objective: To analyze nursing care with ineffective airway clearance nursing problems in bronchial asthma patients at PKU MUHAMMADIYAH GOMBONG Hospital Methods: Scientific writing used by researchers using descriptive case studies, case study instruments using nursing care formats, SOPs for inflating balloon therapy and observation sheets. Subjects consisted of 5 patients who had bronchial asthma with ineffective airway clearance nursing problems. Nursing Care Results: after nursing actions for 1x6 hours in the ER PKU MUHAMMADIYAH GOMBONG Hospital it was found that the administration of inflatable balloon therapy was proven to be effective in reducing pain scale in Asthma patients. Recommendation: it is hoped that the inflatable balloon therapy technique can be used as a SOP for non-pharmacological management to overcome the problem of ineffective airway clearance in bronchial asthma patients.
