Abstract

Background: The increase in the prevalence of hypertension based on the measurement method occurs in almost all provinces in Indonesia. In DKI Jakarta Province it reached 13.4%, South Kalimantan reached 13.3%, and West Sulawesi reached 12.3% (Ministry of Health RI, 2019). The cause of hypertension is primary/essential with unknown cause and secondary with known cause. Hypertension is characterized by symptoms such as aches or pains in the neck. Non-pharmacological treatment to treat pain in hypertension by performing neck massage therapy to reduce pain levels. Objective: To find out the results of nursing care with neck massage in hypertensive patients with acute pain in Rose Room at RSUD Prof. DR. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto. Research Methods: This study uses a descriptive method with case studies to describe the current phenomenon and is of data collection, analysis and data conclusions. Data collection on 5 patients with hypertension. Results: From statistical tests on 5 patients who received neck massage, it had an effect on reducing pain levels in hypertensive patients. Conclusion: The incidence of neck massage can reduce pain levels in hypertensive patients (p = 0.000). Recommendation: Other researchers should use neck massage therapy as an alternative intervention used to reduce pain levels.
