Abstract

Background: The problem that is often experienced by post partum mothers is a wound in the perineal area that occurs during the delivery process. Perineal wound pain has an unpleasant impact on the mother such as pain and a fear of moving so that many mothers with perineal injuries rarely want to move, resulting in problems such as uterine sub involution, lochea that is not smooth, and postpartum bleeding. There are several action techniques to reduce pain in the perineal wound, one of which is a cold compress Objective: To provide nursing care for the application of cold compresses to post partum mothers with acute pain in dr. Sudirman Kebumen. Method: descriptive with a case study approach. The case study subjects that will be studied are 5 post partum mothers with acute pain. The tools in this study were the nursing care format, Nursing Kit, cold compress SOP and the acute pain symptom assessment format. Presentation of data that the author does by drawing conclusions based on subjective and objective data, which is presented in the documentation method and nursing care resume Results: The results of the study showed that the five patients had the same main complaint, namely pain in the perineal sutures. Priority nursing diagnoses in Patients I-V were acute pain related to cervical dilatation as evidenced in the five patients who complained of pain on a scale of 4-5. Nursing interventions carried out were pain management and cold compresses. The implementation of nursing carried out is pain management, in addition to pain management, the author also applies cold compresses. The results of the nursing evaluation in Patients I-V showed a decrease in the pain scale of 2-3 scales. The results of the innovation of cold compresses on post partum clients showed a decrease in pain scale after cold compresses were applied. Clients 1-5 experienced a decrease in 2-3 scales after cold compresses were applied. Recommendation: It is hoped that cold compress exercises can be used as SOPs in comprehensive maternity nursing care for postpartum mothers, especially to reduce pain
